University Heights Charter School needs your help!
Our scholars have made great strides in closing the Achievement Gap, but the recession has meant cuts that have led to a Funding Gap. This is compounded by an 85% poverty rate among our scholars, and an unemployment rate of 15% in Newark. As a result, we have had to put a freeze on all field trips, cut our art program, and defer necessary facilities repairs.
Please help us close the Funding Gap so our students can continue to close the Achievement Gap. Donations in any amount will help return to our full educational program. For example: - $50 will pay for 5 students to take their annual field trip to a university.
- $100 will pay for a whole class to take lesson from an artist in residence.
- $250 will pay for a whole class to take their annual field trip to a university.
- $500 will pay for a whole grade to have an outdoor education experience.
We are also seeking support for one-time technology, furniture, and facilities costs to accommodate our recently approved expansion from grades K-4 to grades K-8.
