In order to present the Fire Fighters with a token of appreciation for the hard work and dedication they provide to our great city, the students joined Mrs. Lloyd-Green, UHCS Lower School Art Teacher, for a painting workshop. First they discussed the contributions made by fire fighters to our community and brainstormed ideas about how they could exhibit their respect and gratitude. Then, the students discussed the importance of living in a comfortable space that is aestheically pleasing, realizing that the firemen spend many hours at the Firehouse and should feel at home in their space. Together, they chose to recreate these images as acrylic paintings.
- Abstract Urban Firehouse was completed by 2nd graders - Shantaya and Angelina
- The 2 paintings that are each ancient Adinkra symbols for courage, strength and valor were completed by Al-Shamir and Leilonni, also 2nd graders
- The Newark Skyline was painted by Kindergarten student, Jenna
- Big and Little Simba was painted by Kindergarten student, Nala
Please accept these paintings to decorate your fire station, as a small token of appreciation for the support you provide the citizens of Newark.
