University Heights Charter School continues to close the achievement on the NJASK, the statewide-standardized assessment given to all students in grades 3-8 each spring.

In every area tested UHCS students achieved double-digit gains in proficiency from 2008 to 2010:

UHCS narrowed the achievement gap with the state in English Language Arts and science has surpassed the state in Mathematics.

Grade 4 ELA -52% -13% -18% Cut gap with state by 34 points, still 18 points behind
Grade 4 Math -62% -11% 11% Eliminated gap with state & now beating by 11 points
Grade 4 Science -34% -1% -2% Statistically tied with the state

UHCS has further surpassed the state socioeconomic non-disadvantaged proficiency rate in mathematics, completely eliminating the Achievement Gap in that subject!

Grade 4 ELA -63% -24% -29% Cut gap with non-poor by 34 points, still 29 behind
Grade 4 Math -70% -19% 2% Eliminated gap with non-poor & now statistically tied
Grade 4 Science -38% -5% -8% Cut gap with non-poor by 30 points, still 8 behind


As a result, University Heights Charter School made Adequate Yearly Progress for a THIRD year in a row and is in good standing under No Child Left Behind.
