Nicole Butler (Board President) recently served as Vice President of Advocacy and Collaboration for the Newark Charter School Fund. In that role, she steered the charter community in establishing important city educational reform initiatives, including the implementation of the One Newark universal enrollment system and the adopting of the Compact for Newark’s Students. Nicole earned her B.A. degree in psychology from Elizabethtown College and her M.A. from New York University.
Elizabeth Rainey-Goka was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. Since 1975, Elizabeth has been involved in the Food Service Industry for the City of Newark Food Programs. Her background and focus on community collaboration has led her to a number of volunteer opportunities and community leadership roles. Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management at Caldwell College and a Masters in Management and Organizational Leadership at Stamford University.
Kimaada Sills is a currently a Program Manager at the Joseph C. Cornwall Center for Metropolitan Studies at Rutgers University-Newark. She serves on the boards of Bethany Cares, Inc. and Rutgers University College of Nursing Urban Youth Center. She holds a Masters degree in City and Regional Planning with a concentration in community and economic development from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
Anuja Vejalla is currently the Chief Operating Officer for the Emerging Markets Latin American Desk, at Barclays. She manages daily operations covering foreign exchange, rates and credit products. Anuja has an MBA from the Yale School of Management, a Masters in Computer Science from West Virginia University, and a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Engineering from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India.
Miyoshi West Lee (Board Vice President) is a Director/SVP and Sr. Global Payments Product Manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. She is responsible for coordinating strategic investment plans and developing sales enablement tools for a portfolio of products across four regions. She also has extensive experience in eCommerce, risk management and FX/commodity trading. Miyoshi has an MBA in Corporate Strategy & International Finance from the University of Michigan Business School and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BS in Finance.
Marinne Walker is a native Newarker. She attended Newark ‘s public schools. A graduate of Barringer High School, she obtained under graduate and graduate degrees from Seton Hall University. She taught in the Newark Public Schools for 36 years. After her retirement Marinne, approached the administration of UHCS offering to volunteer. She has done so for the past ten years, the last seven as acting librarian. Marinne is the mother of two sons, and ‘GMA Renie’ to six grand daughters. A deaconess at Bethany Baptist Church she believes in using whatever you have been given to benefit others.
Edward Nadel is a Partner in the Investment Management Group of Lowenstein Sandler LLP, where he advises clients on issues relating to the structuring, formation and operation of private investment funds. A native of Brooklyn, Ed currently lives in Maplewood with his wife and two young sons. He received his JD from Columbia University and his BS from New York University.
